We are often asked to help customers with bespoke shutter creation for their bay windows. With the majority of these installations we recommend or are asked to supply café style shutters to install. This customer was looking for some new shutters to replace the original drab curtains that were once hanging in the area. Not only do our shutters look fantastic, but the advantages far outweigh traditional window dressings. We were also asked to fit matching shutters to one of the other rooms at the same time.
This customer was looking to keep privacy in the living room from buildings opposite while maintaining maximum light into the room. The best way to achieve this is with café style shutters which have the top section permanently open for light and airflow, with the larger bottom section made up of fully adjustable shutters.
We installed these shutters using a 3 sided insert L frame which allows for the shutters to be changed in the future if the customer requires. They are able to add a further section of shutters to the top which will turn the café style shutters into a tier on tier style. We recommend this to any client wishing to futureproof their newly installed café style shutters.
Jamie was on hand to carry out the installation on 3 windows of the home using MDF as the material and 64 mm louvres throughout. The client opted for central tilt rods which look great on these shutters and make adjusting the louvres a breeze. All shutters were finished in the same way using silk white and white hinges.
